  • With the leaves break them down into smaller pieces, can do this with your lawn mower, then place them in a black plastic sack, put holes in it, and let it rot down, leaves result in a lighter mulch. You can get horse manure and let it rot down around your plants, just don't let it touch the plant stems, you can put a layer of soil over the top to lessening the smell, it will rot down and your plants will double in size, you can put horse manure in a composter, or a pile in the garden, but it will need turning. Some stables or farms have no problem with you shovelling the manure for yourself, I have one that bags it, and we leave donations for it.
