Texting in someone’s presence when they are talking to you can be considered rude as it is antisocial behaviour and that the person texting is not talking to the person in front of them. It may or may not be 65% of people who do this but it is a fact. There are also people who use text language.

Amazingly, a Gen Z-er told me that responding with a single "k" is insulting, while a double K "kk" is fine. Go figure.
