Thumbs up for your point of view. I don't know how that's possible, unless it is California to Santa Catalina Island and North Carolina to Roanoke Island. It's oceans from Coast to Coast is what I'm asking to keep invaders out.

Thanks for sharing! England invaded the US in 1812 during a retaliation for American attacks on British Canada. Imperial Japan was close to invading Oregon when they dropped bombs on the Oregon coast during WW2. Any other countries you know of that have crossed the Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific Ocean to reach the mainland? -

Welcome, the Germans were a threat during WW1&2 with their U-boats sinking ships off the east coast. Here is an excerpt; " German U-boats were present off the US coast during both World War I and World War II. During World War I, three U-boats sank ten ships off the Tar Heel coast in what was primarily considered a demonstration of German naval power. By 1942, German U-boats had become bigger, faster, and more deadly, and their presence in American waters was intended to help win World War II for Germany. During the first three months of 1942, German U-boats sank more than 100 ships off the east coast of North America, in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Caribbean Sea." The USSR and Cuba became a threat during the Cuban missile crisis too. I don't really think invasion was the goal of either enemy though. -

I am aware of Germany using German U-boats to sink a significant number of Allied vessels in the East Coast and in the Gulf of Mexico. But none that set foot on the mainland. Another one I can think of is the Hindenburg Blimp. It crashed in Lakehurst, New Jersey in 1937. Some say it was going to be a terrorist attack, cause Germany then was already under Nazi control. The Hindenburg (1975) movie shows Ritter confronting and fighting with a character named Vogel who is later revealed to be involved in the sabotage plot. Others say it was just an accident. Spain's Navy was also close to the mainland in the Spanish-American War of 1898, being they were in the Caribbean islands, Cuba which is close to Florida. The latest event is of China sending balloons to the US with a satellite communication. It is considered an invasion on the mainland yet, no Chinese troops were in the balloons.
