Define hero and define villain. I don't think he is either one. A hero is someone who selflessly pursues goals for the greater good. A villain is someone who does evil deeds pursuant to goals contrary to the hero's. Mangione did an evil deed out of revenge against a system that works against us all. Such would make him, maybe, an anti-hero.

Yes, those definitions are accurate, and many people online were giving him "hero" status because they said the murder was done for the "greater good" to intimidate health insurance companies. Nothing at all heroic about an ambush murder from behind, IMHO
