  • I don't know about dementia...but studies have shown several deleterious mental-related effects resulting from long-term use of marijuana. * E.g. a New Zealand study that studied people who used cannabis once per week or more for several years. Findings: Average 5.5 pts decline in IQ. Learning deficiencies. Decline in speed of learning. Memory and attention problems. Overall effects of long-term cannabis use on cognitive impairment is greater than the effects of long-term alcohol or tobacco use on cognitive impairment. * On the other hand, use of cannabis less than once a week long-term showed no deleterious results.
