Why not? We are asking her to ask her son for help. Lots of people think we worship Mary but that's a misunderstanding. Prayer and please are related here. Have you ever been asked to pray for somebody's needs? They are not worshiping you or asking you to fix their worries. Marian devotion is a popular cult- cause it comes from the people - it fits very naturally with a community sense of worship. People have always gathered to worship, people have roles to play and some are looked up to as hero's, good example for us to follow but we are all focused on God our creator and final destination. It's nice to have a mother figure to consult and ask for support in our daily needs; our worries and concerns. She stands as the queen of saints and fits within the Church teaching of the Community of Saints, the belief that dead or alive we are alive to God.

Somewhere around a billion and a half of us do that. She is not worshipped she is venerated, and deservedly so. God the Father chose her out of all women in all times to bear His only begotten Son. We ask her to pray for us and to intercede for us. The bible says the "prayers of the righteous avails us much" and nobody has ever been more righteous than Mary, except for her Son. 5/5/25

I don't. Jesus Christ is the only mediator I need. 1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,"
