Ivanpah or clear water in southern Shoshone/Paiute language was supposed to be a big supplier of clean solar energy. It has turned into a nightmare for killing birds, especially raptors, like eagles, and small mammals and reptiles. It's supposed to be a solar facility, but I've heard they use natural gas to run part of it. As far as sending money to Barry's favorites, that's pretty much speculation. The years is half gone today. 7/1/25

Has it ruined ground water ? A lot of land for 400 megga watt gas powered generation for such a short time. https://www.energyaustralia.com.au/about-us/energy-generation/jeeralang-power-station I would assume the US has black start generators where the old coal stations were, thats about how much land they take the link above is close to my house why I showed it. 400 mega watt gas fired generator dont take that much land. they recently talked about to replacing three units, including demolition and new parts, was estimated at around $300 million, i cant find out the gas consumption of either station . Wonder if it killed more birds than wind turbines plenty of dead birds under them no one talks about. -

The clear water spring that gave the place it's name has been damaged and diminished by mining and diverting water and general abuse by the prospectors and builders who came to the place. I think the damage was done before the solar site was built. The site was given a pass on the raptor deaths by the pres. There are a lot of them and smaller birds dying from the solar mirrors or whatever they call them. -

same soak up I have about where are the cockys suposed to live. along with the solar component doesn't do much if anything, apart from employ people to set it up then remove it, if the mirrors are still there, are they still cooking birds? -

It's still working now, but it's supposed to "Partially" shut down in 26. -

10 years ago the bs was in good. In Australia anyway https://reneweconomy.com.au/ivanpah-solar-tower-plant-generation-is-on-track-42808/ Will the gas component stay? -

I don't know how much of it will still function or whether the natural gas component will still be used or not. This facility is just another attempt to help us get away from foreign oil. There will be screw-ups for sure, but sooner or later, they will find a way to make it work -

where does the gas come from? The laws of physics say you cant have something for nothing some things will never work. -

none of our green efforts are worth a pinch of sh*t so far. -

The natural gas is probably piped in. I agree that our green efforts haven't been all that successful, yet, but there are a lot of smart people experimenting on it. Sooner or later, I think we'll get it right. -

392 megawatts probably matters when its dark with no wind, the gas pipeline is there, if the solar goes away will the gas consumption change . Is there any stink that upsets the locals? -

I don't know the answers to any of those questions, sorry. I' far from the Mojave Desert where that installation is, and everything I know about is what I read.
