  • It's political. Tariffs placed on Australian meat makes it more expensive for Americans and thus less attractive to buy, making it harder for Australians to compete with US producers. Now that the biosecurity issues have been satisfied and Australia can safely import American Beef, the tariffs will be reduced, making it cheaper to the American consumer.

How does any of that make beef cheaper for Americans? How can American beef be cheaper in Australia than Australian beef . cost of fuel? Why do you in America care about tariffs when there is a local product? Wouldn't you buy you local product regardless? I would.

I don't know that American beef will cheaper here. Perhaps there will be restaurants with a US theme and big steaks, selling at a premium. Personally I have gone off red meat, so I will not be buying either. My main point is tarrifs make prices go up for the country that is imposing them.

yes we all knew that, I was interested in why its so important for America to sell beef in Australia? How does it help the American people? Pissing on your allies once again.

Trump want to pay off 37 trillion of debt, that means export more than you import. Tariffs slows the consumption of Australian beef in America, so less import, more money in the US treasury to pay down their debt. Not friendly to Australia or American consumers. Trump wanted to paint Australia of not being friendly to America as justification for the tariffs.

Australia not being friendly ? We have gone to every war you lot have ever asked us to while our own country is over run with jippos. Refugees from the said wars. American corporations have bleed us dry since the 1950's.

I know that. This is Trump's argument; that we were not buying their beef. That's why I said it's political. Beef prices in America will go down when Trump reduces the tariffs on our beef.

How does selling your beef overseas make it cheaper for Americans? If there's less to go around wont the price go up?
  • It is highly convoluted, but stick with me. US meta is full of hormones, like progesterone, a steroid, which help the meat farm animals grow more muscles more rapidly. These hormones in the meat cause people who eat them to possibly grow more muscles more quickly as well. Countries outside of the USA have more stringent regulations on how much steroid can be given to farm animals. When Australians eat lower concentrations of steroids in their meat, they make fewer Mad Max movies. When Americans go to see Mad Max movies over the summer, they tend to eat more popcorn. In the USA, popcorn consumption is directly related to emergency dental visits. So more Mad Max movies relates to more dental visits, more dental visits puts more money into the pockets of insurance companies who only consume human blood and organic waste. So Americans have less money to spend on choice cuts of meat, less appetite, and takes corn away from the animal feed production where it belongs. [/satire]

now that makes total sense I understand . We need to make a good mad max movie, I never thought Gibson looked like a Rockatansky
